Om Jens Jørgensen:
Jens Jørgensen, født 1942, er vokset op på en gård på Bornholm. Han er cand. mag i historie, tysk og oldtidskundskab. Tidligere MF samt borgmester og rektor i Slagelse. Nu-værende billedkunstner, foredragsholder og forfatter til over 25 bøger; spæn-dingsromaner for børn, krimier for voksne samt tre værker om H.C. Andersen.
Kunst har altid fyldt meget i Jens Jørgensen liv. I hans barne- og ungdomsår tilbragte ægtepar-ret Ilse og Niels Macholm deres ferier hos Jens Jørgensens forældre. Ilse var international aner-kendt for sine stoftryk, og Niels var et fremtrædende medlem af Linien II med mange venner i Cobra-gruppen. Niels Macholm lærte Jens meget om maleri, formgivning og farvesammensæt-ning, da han begyndte at male i studietiden. Og både Cobra, Linien II, samtalerne med Niels Macholm samt indgående studier af bornholmermaleren Oluf Høsts farvebehandling har sat varige spor hos Jens Jørgensen.
Som kunstmaler favner Jens Jørgensen bredt, og han prøver hele tiden nye farver, nye teknik-ker og nye motiver. De mest kendte motiver er maskebillederne, landskabsmotiverne i klare grundfarver og så Jens´ helt eget udtryk i form af lette, farverige og livsglade malerier, som virkelig giver forårsstemning.
Jens Jørgensen har udstillet sine malerier i talrige gallerier, kulturinstitutioner og private virk-somheder, og han siger selv om sin kunst:
”Det er lyset, der giver farverne glød.
Nuancer. Skygger. Giver os varmen. Og kulden.
Det bløde lys. Tryghed. Ro. Tid til eftertanke.
Tid og plads til fantasien.”
